Typophiles: The Outer Banks

Recognize this sign? Yep, it’s the Nights in Rodanthe inn that was used in the movie.

We spent Spring Break 2023 in the Outer Banks. I love it there. It’s wild, and so different from the rest of North Carolina. While it’s at the beach, it doesn’t have that manicured vibe, or the super touristy vibe like Myrtle Beach. You’re at the mercy of the wind, the sand dunes, and the waves. They are often marketed as a laid-back, family-friendly getaway with a focus on outdoor activities and local cuisine.

One that that stood out are the restaurant and business signage around the island. I took pics of local signs that caught my eye.

This ice cream shop had the cutest sign. I wish I had stopped by to try their ice cream.
